The documentary series, which is based on the best-selling book of the same name, tells the story of two World War I veterans who fought in the trenches, but didn’t end up on the front lines.
The show follows the two soldiers, George S. and William J. Sargent, as they go on a journey to the American Civil War battlefields, and the impact the conflict had on them.
In addition to Sargen, the cast also includes actress and comedian Rosario Dawson, who played a young woman who was raped by a soldier.
The cast also included actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose performance as the mother of a young girl, played by Lili Taylor, helped to shape the character of Mabel.
The first season of “World War II: The War That Never Was” premiered on the NBC Sports network in October.
In September, it was selected as the 2015-2016 National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ annual “TV Hall of Fame.”
