You know you want a pair of rugby shorts when you see one of these, but how do you make them fit?
That’s the question that came up when we asked rugby players about how to make them as close to the right size as possible.
“A lot of the guys were like, ‘Oh, I’m just going to sew the shorts together,'” said Australian rugby league player Sam Mills, who made a pair with a pair the size of a handkerchief.
“The first time I did it I was like, this is really nice.”
And with no sewing involved, Mills and his teammates were able to make two pairs in about 15 minutes.
There are plenty of good, basic patterns to choose from, but the best one is the one found on the popular Japanese clothing website Rakuten.
“I think the best thing about Rakuten is that it’s a very simple way of making the shorts that they’ve designed,” Mills said.
“They really go for the essentials and just give you a great idea of how they’re supposed to be.”
The best of the best.
